Am I eligible for the Call?
-
If you are working in the field of Earth System Science and your institution is generally eligible for funding of DFG you are eligible in this 2nd Call for NFDI4Earth Incubator. However, in this call we exclude researchers that are part of the working group of NFDI4Earth steering group members. Please check if this applies to you with the list of steering group members and respective working groups available here.
I am member of a working group lead by a steering group member. Why am I not eligible?
-
We appreciate the efforts and time the steering group members including Co-Spokespersons and their working groups contribute to NFDI4Earth. As NFDI4Earth is a community effort we however strive to include the perspectives and ideas of as many members of the community as possible. Thus we particularly welcome working groups and institutions to participate in this second call for pilot that haven't received funding from NFDI4Earth yet. We want to diversify the contributions to this joint effort. Furthermore the steering group will take the final funding decision on pilot projects and this way we can avoid conflicts of interests in the decision making.
My institution is not yet participant of NFDI4Earth, can I apply?
-
Please contact the incubator coordination if you plan to submit a proposal but are not yet participant of NFDI4Earth. We are currently discussing the procedure of including new partners in the consortium with DFG.
For what
kind of resources can I apply?
-
You may
only apply for staff costs. We have a planned budget of 17.500 € up to 35.000 € per incubator project, which is approximately 3 to 6 months TVL/öD E13. The duration of the incubator project should be between 3 and 6 month.
What deliverables are expected and how should I describe them in my proposal?
-
Whether you are implementing a web service, small software, or some other innovative way of exploring earth system data, your results have to be FAIR. In order to provide a convenient access to your results for the community, you are supposed to deliver a GitLab with the project description, a Jupyter notebook and small tutorial videos. Exemplary proposals and GitLabs can be found under the Incubator 2022 deliverables.
From whom can I request
further information or answers to further questions?
