Our mission
Our mission is establishing the NFDI4Earth as a connecting node for the German research data management (RDM) infrastructures in the Earth System Sciences (ESS). Here, we closely work together with the Coordination Office, in particular on cultural change activtities (M 4.2). We provide three products/services:
We act as a central communication hub between the various NFDI4Earth task areas, other NFDI consortia, universities, research facilities, authorities, RDM initiatives, or funding agencies involved in the promotion of FAIR (geo)spatial research data and their management. We further address cross-cutting topics and facilitate the cross-disciplinary sharing of FAIR data.
We compile a comprehensive, easy to understand, accessible and transparent documentation of the NFDI4Earth products, architecture, structure, and services. Users will find all relevant information on how to use the NFDI4Earth products in this LHB. The LHB is tightly connected to the knowledge hub (M3.2) and provides relevant and easy to use technical information. The LHB further offers service providers the opportunity to present their tools, databases, tutorials, or best practice information on a central platform to increase their visibility.
The Institute für Geowissenschaften at the Goethe Universität Frankfurt has a history in working with long tail data, which is one of the reasons we are particularly engaged in the field of how to work with long tail data.
